When Toronto Radiology at St. Michael’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Health Centre decided to partner on overnight CT coverage, the patients at St. Joseph’s gained much needed timely access to imaging results.
Dr. Anish Kirpalani, Chief of the Department of Medical Imaging at St. Michael’s Hospital, and Dr. Tara Williams, Chief of Diagnostic Imaging at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, are very proud of this collaborative overnight CT reporting program that dramatically speeds up emergency care for patients at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. With this partnership, St. Joseph’s now performs CT scans overnight and securely sends the images to Toronto Radiology at St. Michael’s emergency radiologists—who are available 24/7—for rapid interpretation.
This partnership has reduced long waits, improved diagnostic speed, and allowed emergency teams to make quicker, safer decisions. Leaders from both hospitals describe the initiative as a highly successful example of cross-site teamwork that has become a “game changer” for patient care.
