Toronto Radiology is delighted to share a significant radiology education achievement from our Division of Neuroradiology at St. Michael’s Hospital. Dr. Amy Chen, one of our neuroradiologists, has been selected for the prestigious American Roentgen Ray Society’s (ARRS) 2024 Clinician Educator Development Program (CEDP). This competitive program recognizes outstanding clinician educators in radiology who demonstrate excellence in radiology education and a commitment to advancing radiology education in their careers.
About Dr. Amy Chen
Dr. Chen is an academic neuroradiologist at St. Michael’s Hospital and Toronto Radiology, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto. She joined our practice in 2022, following 5 years as a neuroradiologist in Diagnostic Imaging at Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga, Ontario. Dr. Chen completed medical school at the University of Toronto, radiology residency at the University of Toronto, and a fellowship in diagnostic neuroradiology at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Chen already has an outstanding track record and pedigree as a neuroradiology educator. In her first full year on faculty at St. Michael’s and the University of Toronto, she won a prestigious U of T radiology residency Outstanding Teacher award. She is consistently invited to give educational neuroradiology lectures at local Toronto and Canada-wide radiology conferences. She has taken on multiple educational leadership and mentorship roles in neuroradiology and for radiology residents, including becoming our hospital’s neuroradiology fellowship coordinator, delivering and coordinating lectures and case-based learning material for the U of T-wide neuroradiology fellowship program. Her passion for education has driven her to innovate in her teaching methods in radiology.
Significance of the ARRS Clinician Educator Development Program
The ARRS CEDP is designed to nurture and develop clinician educators in radiology. It focuses on enhancing their skills in teaching, curriculum design, and educational leadership. Being selected for this program is a significant honor, as it acknowledges the capacity to contribute meaningfully to the education and training of radiologists. The program provides participants with valuable resources, mentorship, and skills development, helping them become more effective educators and leaders in their field.
